Trading through COVID-19 restrictions hasn’t been easy for Irish businesses.

Public health restrictions have hurt some businesses more than others and as a result, Budget 2021 includes a range of financial supports to help those worst affected.

Among the many supports included are:

A new COVID-19 Restrictions Support Scheme (CRSS).
Extensions to aspects of the Temporary Wage Subsidy Scheme (TWSS).
The Employment Wage Subsidy Scheme (EWSS) continuing until March 31st, 2021.
Parent’s Benefit increasing from two to five weeks.
Changes to the higher rate of employer’s PRSI and an increase in the second USC rate band.

Of course, Budget 2021 includes a range of other supports Irish employers will gladly welcome, including the State pension age not increasing, self-employed people on PUP being allowed to recommence work, ‘waiting days’ for Illness Benefit being reduced, and certain homeworking expenses being covered for tax relief.
