Construction Waste Management

Policies, Legalities, and Sustainability

14th June 2021

Attendance Options:

VIRTUALLY – Via our online interactive stream

The construction/demolition industry is one of the largest waste producers in Ireland. Making provisions for sustainable and proper waste management a necessity, not a luxury. It has become a key concern within the private and public sectors.

This one-day CPD course will show you the key issues and best practice regarding managing and disposing of waste on construction and demolition sites. We will examine key policies and legislation within Ireland and the EU. You will learn the best practice for the management of soil & stones, other construction wastes, as well as establishing the available end destinations for each. You will also gain expert insights into sustainable waste management, examining topics such as green procurement, and LEED & BREEAM credits.

Article 27 has become a very hot topic recently and will be discussed in this training course. Under the Waste Framework Directive, a material can be declared a ‘by-product,’ so that it does not need to be handled as a waste. Article 27 of the European Communities (Waste Directive) Regulations, 2011, allows an “economic operator” to decide, under certain circumstances, that a material is a by-product and not a waste.
