Dear Member,

Are you aware the Government recently announced a rebate for commercial rates paid to your Local Authority for 2019.

You are entitled to such a rebate from your Local Authority subject to certain ( but not too harsh)  conditions.

The title given to this rebate is Re-Starter Grant  for Small Business and it is only available on line through your Local Council,

Just Google your local County Council e.g. Kilkenny County Council and proceed to Restart Grants.

PS Please find copy of correspondence we have received from Dublin City Council this might be of interest to you.

You may or may not be eligible for these schemes but I am sending this email for your information anyway.  You are welcome to give this information to anyone who may find it helpful.

As of now the full 2020 commercial rates charge is still on the accounts (less any payments made to date).  A commercial rates initiative to support businesses through the current situation was announced by Government on 2/5/20.  This consists of:

   - a 3 month waiver of rates for certain businesses and

   - the establishment of a Restart Grant for certain micro and small businesses

Waiver: As of now we have no details of how this will be rolled out or what terms and conditions will apply.  The Department of Housing, Planning and Local Government is currently considering the implementation arrangements and will be in contact with local authorities in due course.

Restart Grant: Information/FAQs and the online application form (for businesses based in the Dublin City area) can be accessed at https://www.dublincity.ie/restartbusinessgrant.  Information such as the property reference(s), account number(s) and property address(es) is available on your rate bill(s)/reminder notice(s).  Any queries relating to this grant should be emailed to restartgrant@dublincity.ie.  If you have a business in any other local authority area please check the website for that local authority.
